Make nice looking, sturdy, inexpensive shelving for your action figures or anything else.
Half the battle of collecting action figures is finding a nice way to display them (the other half is knowing).
After having my old GI Joe collection hidden away in a case for years, I decided it was time to come up with a solution to display them. After looking on line at spice rack risers and several other pre-made solutions and deciding that none of them were quite right for what I wanted to do, I decided I'd just be better off making my own to the size and specifications that I needed.
I went to my local craft store and just started walking around. In the end I decided to use a mix of 1/2 inch foam board and regular 1/8 foam board and hot glue to assemble it.
Materials
1 Sheet 1/2 inch foam board.
1 Sheet 1/8 inch foam board.
Hot glue
Tools
Hot Glue Gun
Razor Blade Knife
Metal Yard Stick
Self Healing Cutting Mat
The Build
First I decided what my measurements needed to be and drew out my plans, Them I started transferring those lines to my foam board. I cut the flat step pieces out of the thicker 1/2 inch board. All the upright step pieces a were cut from the thinner board.
After all the pieces were cut I just used hot glue to join everything together. It turned out very sturdy and looks fantastic on the shelf full of Joes.
This kind of shelving could also be great for building displays for paints, craft material , nail polish display or a million other things. Its cheap , easy, and something anyone can do.
